God has made a person’s heart so that nothing can ever fill it but God himself. A believer is able to identify this craving and he knows that nothing but the pursuit of righteousness will be satisfying.
· Are you feeding yourself spiritually?
- Are you in the Word?
- Do you spend time in prayer?
- Is church a top priority for your family?
The more time we spend with Jesus, the more we want to know Him. A relationship with Jesus creates a hunger for more holiness. So what is holiness? Holiness means to be “set apart for God’s purposes.” It involves the whole person. In fact, it come from the same Greek word as the word “wholeness.” Sin destroys and divides, but holiness builds us up. To have Christ planted in the center of your life means that Christ begins to make you whole again.
When the prodigal son hungered for material possessions and thrills, his whole life fell apart. However, when he returned to his father, everything was made whole again. In fact, everything he was looking for in that distant country he found right at home with his dad.
In the same way, the satisfaction we think we will find in the pursuit of secular things we’ll discover perfectly in the pursuit of righteousness. The promise of Matthew 5:6 is that those who hunger and thirst for righteousness will be satisfied and blessed. Holiness always produces God’s blessing in our lives.
