If Christian’s claim that God created the world, then who created God?

That’s a great question and the Bible answers it directly.  The scriptures teach that God is the only being who did not have life given to Him but who has life in Himself.  In John 5:26, Jesus says, “For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself.”

In this way, God is self-sufficient.  All that God is, He is in Himself.  God was not created.  He has always existed.  His Word says that all other life comes from Him.  It doesn’t matter it that life is the lowest form of bacteria or the highest rank of an angel, all life originates with God Himself.

In John 1:3-4, the Apostle writes these words about God’s Son, “All things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made.  In him was life, and the life was the light of men.”  No creature has life in themselves.  Every creature has life given to them from another.  In that way, the Bible teaches that all life is a gift from God.
